Currently interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underpinning complex phenotypes and diseases using two of the most disruptive technologies available: synthetic biology and artificial intelligence. He has made contributions in mathematics, microbiology and genetics, including the design and synthesis of the first synthetic eucaryotic genome.
He is currently focusing on developing more effective and sustainable enzyme replacement therapies for lysosomal storage diseases, primarily focusing on Fabry disease.
