My group’s primary area of research is to understand the molecular mechanisms underpinning injury and repair processes in the kidney and in the cardiovascular system. Our key goal is to identify and translate novel therapeutics that can slow/prevent/reverse kidney injury, in particular kidney fibrosis. Our research focusses on using a combination of transcriptomic studies (via RNA-, small RNA-, spatial and single cell RNA-Seq studies), informative rodent models of kidney injury and repair and human patient samples to dissect the complex interplay between the kidney parenchyma, myeloid cells and fibroblasts driving injury or resolution to identify new therapeutic targets and diagnostics for disease severity.
